this is the thing that has UTTERLY AND COMPLETELY TAKEN OVER MY LIFE for the last 3 weeks or so.
this weekend my family finally finished watching the entire series (18 dvds x 3 hour-long episodes = 74 hours). all day yesterday we watched episode after episode and ... wow. my life seems meaningless now that it's over.
i am joking in that last comment, but not really.
the series is about the life of woman named jang geum during the joseon dynasty (around 1500s). the show altogether is more tragic, joyful, & comedic than any shakespeare play ever will. storyline: after dozens of tribulations and celebrations, an ordinary girl goes far places. it's an asian cinderella-story, but nowhere as simple as the fairy tale. plus she doesn't end up as some stupid princess. you can't help thinking after watching it, "what a life jang geum has, eh."
i know its weird that i'll obsess about a tv show, but dae jang geum is not your usual tv show at all. i know you prob won't be able to even lay your eyes on the show, but it really will move something in you if you understand it in its whole. it really will.
my life is FOREVER ALTERED.
i think i want to read tolstoy now "war and peace"
or write something just as long
